A passion for beauty and accuracy and a genuine interest in the world of classic cars, motorcycles and yachts
Art and the Machine
Thank you for visiting and let me explain what the site is about.
'Art and the Machine' is a new site dedicated to celebrating the beauty of the world's most evocative motor cars, motorcycles and boats through the medium of limited run prints.
Each artwork seeks to capture a bit more than simply a view of a car or a boat or a motorcycle. Whether it's a Ferrari resting on the quayside in St Tropez, a Jaguar at Goodwood, or a Bugatti on the Grand Prix circuit, we try to put into that image something that evokes the period or the atmosphere where it thrived and capture the spirit of the occasion as much as the vehicle itself.
Working from carefully researched source material and original reference photography, the artwork is created with a strong emphasis on authentic detail. The enthusiast knows their car in their exact proportions and we know well how minute changes can distort the truth. Subjects are selected not only for their beauty but also for their significance, hopefully each telling a story or reflecting a particular moment in automotive history. Engineering is so often the hero and that sits centre stage here with a continuing series of prints of the iconic engines and mechanical details.
Limited Editions
Each artwork is produced as a strictly limited edition of just 50 prints in each format, worldwide. Why so few? Well if I'm honest the excitement for me is what might be around the corner and in producing the next print so once that edition is sold there is a good reason to get on with it! Once an edition is sold out, no further copies are produced.
Fine Art Production
All prints are produced in either A3 or A2 format using archival-quality pigment inks on premium heavyweight fine art paper chosen for its exceptional tonal range, colour accuracy, and longevity. The paper has a subtle texture and matte finish that faithfully reproduces the character and depth of the original artwork.
The combination of museum-quality paper and modern archival printing methods ensures outstanding detail, rich blacks, subtle gradations, and excellent resistance to fading. This genuinely adds to your appreciation and enjoyment and we would not want to send out a print that was not at its best potential.
Attention to Detail
Great care is taken throughout the production process. Each print is individually inspected before being signed and editioned. Prints are carefully protected and professionally packaged to ensure they arrive in perfect condition, ready for framing and display.
New images will be added every week and if you want to be reminded of these additions then please subscribe to the mailing list for a bi-weekly update.
Thank you again for visiting and we look forward to your enquiry or purchase!
